Q: How do I enrol my child in swimming lessons? | A. To enrol your child, please submit an enrolment form. By doing so, you acknowledge and agree to our terms and conditions. Your child's place is secured once full payment has been received. We do not hold places or accept part payments. |
Q: My child may need an assessment. What happens then? | A. If an assessment is required to determine your child's swimming ability, our aquatic department will contact you by phone to arrange an assessment time. |
Q: How does re-enrolment work for current students? | A. Existing Yarra Swim School (YSS) students are automatically re-enrolled for the following term. You will be issued an invoice within two weeks prior to the end of the current term, indicating the new term's lesson day, times, and fees. |
Q: What if I don't want to re-enrol my child? | A. If you do not wish to re-enrol, please notify the office ASAP. |
Q: What happens if I don't pay my fees on time? | A. If your current term fees aren't up to date by the completion of the term, your position will be deemed vacant and offered to other applicants. |
Q: How do I know what level my child is? | A. When you enrol your child with us, our team conducts an assessment to determine the most suitable starting level. Throughout the term, we continuously monitor and assess your child's progress. Students who demonstrate significant progress are frequently moved up to higher levels. You can conveniently track your child's progress and goals using the iClassPro app. |
Q: Can I cancel my child's enrolment? | A. This contract of membership can be voided if written notification is provided no later than seven working days prior to the commencement of the YSS term. Cancellations received after seven working days but prior to the commencement of the YSS swimming term will receive a refund less a $20 administration fee. |
Q: What if my child misses lessons due to illness? | A. Students who are unable to attend lessons due to illness can organize up to two (2) make-up classes for all other levels per term. Nursery classes are entitled to 2 make-ups for both parent and child. Make-up lessons can only be provided if spaces become available within the same term and will expire and become a forfeit at the end of each term. |
Q: How do I request a refund? | A. Requests for a refund must be completed in writing to the Centre Manager for approval. These may require a medical certificate (stating the dates of unattended lessons) or other required documentation. Refunds will not be issued to any person other than the enrolled student stated on the medical certificate or in the refund request communications. An administration fee of $20 will be deducted from all refunds. |
Q: What if my child is sick and can't attend class? | A. If, for any reason, your child cannot make it to their regularly scheduled swimming lesson, please inform Yarra Swim School at least 1 hour before the lesson's start time. You can cancel your booking by either calling us directly or using the iClassPro App. Once canceled, you will be eligible to reschedule the missed class before the end of the term, depending on availability. For more details, please refer to our terms and conditions available on the iClassPro App. |
Q: Do you hold classes on public holidays? | A. No, classes do not run on public holidays or term school holidays and do not form part of your account. |
Q: What should my child wear to swimming lessons? | A. All students who are not fully toilet trained must wear appropriate aqua nappies while in the pool during and after lessons. |
Q: Can the teacher or class time change? | A. The swim school reserves the right to cancel or change classes and instructors, or move students if necessary. Although we strive to maintain consistency with instructors, this is not always possible. |
Q: What should I do when I arrive for my child's lesson? | A. All students must check in at reception prior to each lesson. |
Q: Do I need to stay with my child during the lesson? | A. It is a condition of entry that all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while at the centre. Children will not be accepted into lessons if a parent or guardian is absent. Children must be collected by a parent or guardian over the age of sixteen (16) at the conclusion of every lesson. |
Q: Where should my child get changed? | A. All school-age children are required to use the appropriate change rooms. Parents needing to provide supervised care may use the disabled change facilities. |
Q: Can I take photos or videos of my child during lessons? | A. Photographs or video footage is not allowed to be taken of a child or children while they are in the centre. Parents and relatives wishing to take images of their child/ren during class MUST complete a consent form available at reception. |
